What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, effective and non-invasive form of healing. Reiki essentially means "universal life force energy" and this is what a person who has been initiated into the Usui System channels into themself and others when they put their hands on them. Reiki is uncomplicated and beautifully simple, Mrs. Takata used to say "Hands on, Reiki on. Hands off, Reiki off".
Reiki is not a religion, and as such, to benefit from the Reiki healing you do not need to change or challenge your religion or beliefs, in fact you do not even need to believe in Reiki for it to work. Saying that Reiki is not a religion does not mean that it without morals and integrity. Reiki practitioners are guided by the Reiki Precepts.
Receiving a Reiki Treatment
Healing (energy healing, spiritual healing, hands-on healing) is the process in which a healer acts as a channel or conduit for the beneficial energy which is found in all beings (and which is the energy which our bodies use to self-heal and rejuvenate). By working with the body's bio-energetic field (aura) and energy centres (chakras) the healer boosts the body's natural healing processes - much like charging a flat battery. Healing clears blockages in the energy field and brings it into balance so that it can function harmoniously once more.
Healing benefits a wide range of mental, emotional and physical conditions and is complementary to all other therapies. Healing is completely safe and natural; it can never do any harm and has no negative side effects. Patients who have healing feel relaxed and rejuvenated and more able to cope with the stresses and strains of life or recovery. Both people and animals benefit from healing.
Everyone is able to heal and the healing energy is available to every person and animal, however it is the training and extensive personal development which the healer undergoes that actually 'makes' the healer. One cannot simply decide that they are a healer. First they must have the calling, then they must commit to their development and learning with a recognisable organisation and finally, they must continually develop themselves. Becoming a healer is a process, a commitment, and a way of life.
Combining Reiki with other treatments
A very popular choice is to combine a Reiki healing treatment with another therapy, such as an Angel Card Reading or Bach Flower Remedies consultation. This works really well as it enables you to work deeper with the aspects you are healing with Reiki.
